Dolomites mountain rescue operations involve multiple hikers
Multiple mountain rescue operations were conducted in the Dolomites on Sunday, involving hikers on Monte Pelmo, in Nevegal, and near Forcella Marmarole.
On Monte Pelmo, alpine rescue teams from San Vito di Cadore responded to a call from a 30-year-old man from Padova. The hiker had strayed from the path between Forcella Val D’Arcia and Rifugio Venezia, becoming trapped among rocky cliffs. Rescuers used a quad to reach the area before ascending on foot to guide him back to the trail and his vehicle at Passo Staulanza.
In the Nevegal area near Rifugio Brigata Alpina Cadore, a 53-year-old woman from Belluno was treated after being bitten by a viper. She was reached by a Belluno alpine rescue team via jeep and transported to a hospital for medical evaluation.
Later in the evening, two 30-year-old hikers from Siena were rescued near Forcella Marmarole. The pair had lost their orientation while heading toward Bivacco Fanton and were stranded at an altitude of 2,300 meters in the dark. A helicopter from Treviso performed the rescue, hoisting the hikers to safety and transporting them to Auronzo.
