Sydney Roosters reach NRL Grand Final with win over Dolphins

The Sydney Roosters have secured a place in the 2026 NRL Grand Final following a 36-20 preliminary final victory over the Dolphins at Suncorp Stadium. The win marks the Roosters' first appearance in the decider since 2019.

Key individual performances included winger Mark Nawaqanitawase, who recorded 343 running metres and scored two tries, including a crucial length-of-the-field intercept. Halfback Sam Walker also made a significant impact in his first game since undergoing ankle surgery less than a month ago, contributing a try and an assist.

While the victory was dominant, the Roosters face potential roster challenges for the Grand Final. Bench utility Connor Watson is uncertain for the decider due to a head-injury assessment, and the team must navigate the upcoming departure of several players, including Nawaqanitawase, who is moving to Super Rugby.
