Sydney Roosters injury and roster updates

Overview

The Sydney Roosters are managing significant roster changes due to injuries as they enter the NRL finals. Star halfback Sam Walker underwent surgery for a high-grade syndesmosis ankle injury sustained during a match against the Dolphins. While initial recovery estimates were six to eight weeks, the club indicated Walker will return “as his recovery allows.”

To address Walker’s absence for the qualifying final against the Penrith Panthers, the Roosters have reshuffled their halves. Hugo Savala will step into the role to partner veteran Daly Cherry-Evans. Despite the injury, Walker is reportedly aiming to return to the lineup if the team reaches the grand final.

The club is also working toward the return of other key players, including Daniel Tupou, Victor Radley, and Angus Crichton, to bolster the squad for the postseason.
