Dominic Fritz criticizes Nicușor Dan following new government investiture
USR President Dominic Fritz has expressed significant criticism regarding President Nicușor Dan, stating that many of the President's voters feel disappointed. Fritz noted that voters had originally supported a bold reform agenda, particularly in the first round of elections, and expressed that the current political outcome does not reflect those expectations.
The criticism follows the Romanian Parliament's investiture of the Luca Niculescu-led government, which was built around the PSD. Fritz argued that despite lacking a genuine parliamentary majority, the PSD effectively controls power in the country. He described the new executive as a “front” government where the PSD maintains control behind the scenes.
Fritz also announced that the relationship between USR and the President has fundamentally changed. While USR maintains a “constructive collaboration” with PNL president Ilie Bolojan to work toward a government without PSD or AUR influence, Fritz ruled out a merger between the two parties. Additionally, he stated that USR state secretaries have resigned, though some may remain temporarily to ensure functionality.
