Dominican authorities recapture two prison fugitives in Dajabón

Police and the Directorate General of Penitentiary Services (DGSPC) in the Dominican Republic captured two long‑standing prison fugitives in the border province of Dajabón. Jefri Pie, who had been on the run since escaping the CCR Beller facility in 2014, was detained on July 22 after a confrontation with police. Alexander Fernández Vargas, who fled the same centre in February 2022, was arrested on July 24 in the Barrio Sur sector following a coordinated intelligence operation involving the National Police, Dicrim and Dintel.

Both men were handed over to the CCR Beller authorities and will remain in custody to continue serving their sentences.
