Dominican authorities repatriate Haitians using WhatsApp to monitor migration units
Dominican migration authorities have repatriated approximately 50 Haitian nationals found in an irregular migratory status. The group, consisting of 47 men and 4 women, was transported from a processing center in Haina to the border town of Pedernales for deportation.
Among those repatriated, five individuals—identified as Wilkin Pierre, Wilga Enord, Elitone ST Denord, Calite Jean, and Shile Chardles—were handed over to the Haitian police in Anse-à-Pitres. These individuals are suspected of managing a WhatsApp group named ‘Gruope Haití’.
Authorities report that the group, which contained between 659 and 696 members, was used to monitor and alert other Haitian nationals regarding the locations and movements of Dominican migration units and ongoing enforcement operations.
