Dominican Republic hosts various cultural and sporting events
Various cultural and sporting events are taking place across the Dominican Republic. The Instituto Cultural Domínico Americano (ICDA) has inaugurated the eighth edition of ‘La Última Cena 2026’, a collective exhibition in Santo Domingo featuring painting, sculpture, music, and gastronomy to reinterpret the Christian tradition.
In La Romana, the Este Festival 2026 concluded with ceremonies honoring cultural managers and artists. A highlight of the festival was the presentation of the documentary ‘5,000 Días: El Reto de Cristóbal Rodríguez’, which follows visual artist Cristóbal Rodríguez’s 14-year commitment to creating a new work of art every 24 hours.
In the sporting arena, the Dominican Wrestling Federation (FEDOLA) distributed economic incentives to medalists from the Santo Domingo 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games. Additionally, the country is hosting the first Quisqueya International Trampoline Gymnastics Cup, featuring athletes from Mexico, Panama, and Colombia.
Furthermore, the National Network of Cultural Workers has organized a poetic recital in solidarity with the people of Cuba, scheduled for September 8 at the Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo (UASD).
