Dominican JCE President Affirms Official Shield on New ID, NYC Residents Applaud

Román Jáquez Liranzo, president of the Dominican Republic's Central Electoral Board (JCE), said the shield displayed on the new Dominican identity and electoral card is the official version authorized by law and validated by the Permanent Commission of Patriotic Ephemerides (CPEP) and the Instituto Duartiano.

Dominicans living in Upper Manhattan – the world’s largest concentration of the diaspora – responded positively to the clarification. They noted that visual confusion arises from enlarged digital images, not a change to the symbol, and praised the JCE for providing technical details and transparency. Community members urged others to verify information with official sources to avoid misinformation on social media.
