Dominican JCE Sets Deadlines for Party Registrations and ID Renewal
The Junta Central Electoral (JCE) reminded political parties, groups and movements in the Dominican Republic that they must submit an updated register of all affiliates by 3 August 2026, as required by Law 33‑18. The register must be organized by electoral district, municipality, province and overseas sections and include signed affiliation and disaffiliation records.
The JCE also detailed the timeline for the national identity‑electoral card renewal that began on 12 April 2026. The process aims to issue 854,545 new cards per month and is scheduled to finish on 31 March 2027 across the country, with a later deadline of 21 January 2028 for Dominicans abroad. After delivering two million new cards within the first 90 days, the JCE urged citizens to obtain the new document before the current card loses legal validity. President of the JCE, Román Andrés Jáquez Liranzo, led a ceremony in La Romana to mark the milestone.
