Dominican political parties expand structures ahead of 2028 elections
Dominican political parties are actively expanding their territorial structures in preparation for the 2028 general elections.
Johnny Pujols, Secretary General of the Partido de la Liberación Dominicana (PLD), has led a series of inaugurations for party offices in the provinces of San Cristóbal and Barahona. As part of the party’s Organizational and Electoral Line, the PLD reports having 163 operational offices nationwide, with 54 more pending. Pujols emphasized that the party is the sole effective opposition in the country and urged members to intensify grassroots work to regain power.
Simultaneously, the Partido País Posible (PPP) is strengthening its presence in the Cibao region. Party President Milton Morrison recently oversaw the swearing-in of hundreds of new leaders in Santiago, Moca, and San Francisco de Macorís. The PPP aims to establish itself as one of the top four political forces in the Dominican Republic by 2028.
In Puerto Plata, the PLD is preparing for a large-scale assembly to swear in thousands of new members, scheduled for late October.
