Dominican Olympic Committee sets election date

The Dominican Olympic Committee (COD) assembly of sports federations has unanimously approved the commission and schedule for upcoming elections. The electoral commission will be led by Dr. Dionisio Guzmán, alongside Jorge Torres and Rafael Villalona.

Elections to select the new executive committee are scheduled to take place on Wednesday, December 2, 2024. The commission has been authorized to seek necessary legal advisors to oversee the process.

During the assembly, members also approved the 2027 activity program and budget. Key highlights for the 2027 program include the participation of the country in the Lima 2027 Pan American Games and the hosting of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) assembly.

Additionally, COD President Garibaldy Bautista announced a recognition event for medalists from the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026, involving athletes, coaches, and medical staff.
