Dominican Republic advances Federico Basilis highway expansion
The Dominican Republic’s Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) has entered a decisive phase in the expansion and modernization of the Federico Basilis highway. This infrastructure project is considered vital for the development of Jarabacoa and La Vega.
To facilitate the widening of the road, the MOPC is managing land expropriation processes. The ministry reports that 67 social agreements have been successfully processed, with checks issued and other files in the final stages of payment.
While most land acquisitions have been reached through dialogue and negotiation, the ministry stated that in exceptional cases where amicable pacts could not be reached, legal interventions were carried out following mediation and public utility declarations to ensure construction continues without interruption.
