Dominican Republic agencies partner to certify public sector electricians

The Dominican Republic’s Ministry of Public Administration (MAP) and the Superintendency of Electricity (SIE) have signed a collaboration agreement to strengthen the technical competencies of electricians working in the public sector.

The agreement aims to facilitate the process for technicians and assistants to obtain the necessary licenses required to perform their duties. This initiative ensures that personnel involved in the installation, maintenance, and construction of electrical systems in state institutions are properly certified and registered in accordance with existing regulations, specifically Resolution SIE-065-2016-MEMI.

Minister of Public Administration Sigmund Freund stated that the agreement ensures service providers meet minimum required conditions. Superintendent of Electricity Andrés Astacio emphasized that the move will promote safer, more reliable, and efficient electrical installations within government institutions by ensuring work is performed by qualified personnel following established standards.
