Dominican Republic Agriculture Ministry starts job classification to raise salaries

The Dominican Republic's Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Public Administration (MAP) have begun a joint process to categorize public‑sector positions. The aim is to create a more equitable salary scale, correct pay distortions for employees with 15, 20 and up to 30 years of service, and strengthen the administrative career path.

Emilio Mambrú Santamaría, president of the Association of Public Servants of the Ministry of Agriculture (ASPMA), said the initiative was presented in a meeting chaired by Minister Francisco Oliverio Espaillat Bencosme, Vice‑Minister Herminia Reyes and other officials. As part of the effort, the ministry paid the 2024 Career Bonus and the 2025 Individual Performance Bonus, and is reactivating the "Préstamo Feliz" loan program that had been suspended for years.

The ministry also highlighted training programs overseen by the Vice‑Ministry of Planning and Development, led by Sandra Lara, which have benefited 315 technicians and professionals through five specialized courses in partnership with national and international universities.
