Dominican Republic evaluates new state project management framework

President Luis Abinader has announced that the Dominican government is evaluating a new regulatory framework to institutionalize the strategic management and direction of state projects. This initiative aims to establish common standards to improve planning, transparency, and the efficient execution of public works and investments.

Separately, the government has allocated RD$2 billion recovered from previous corruption cases toward the construction and rehabilitation of 40 sports facilities across 15 provinces. The total investment for these sports projects is estimated at RD$2.232 billion, with additional funds managed by the Presidency. The program, supervised by a citizen oversight commission, targets communities lacking adequate infrastructure and aims to provide accessible spaces for youth, the elderly, and people with disabilities.

In other administrative news, an audit by the Comptroller General identified irregularities at the National Office of Industrial Property (ONAPI), including allegations of improper spending on catering and non-compliant procurement processes totaling millions of pesos.
