Dominican Republic and Honduras implement migrant reintegration measures

The Dominican Republic has introduced a social reintegration model designed to support repatriated citizens through a coordinated pathway. Presented by Triana Aybar of the Social Policy Cabinet, the proposal aims to assist returnees from their arrival through their incorporation into labor, economic, and community life. Data indicates that between 2021 and 2025, approximately 4,000 to 5,000 Dominicans were repatriated, with 86% coming from the United States.

In Honduras, the government is preparing to distribute an economic benefit to deported citizens. Carlos Cordero, director of the National Institute of Migration, announced that Hondurans returned since January 27 will receive a bonus of 2,500 lempiras starting in October. This support will cover 32,704 individuals. Authorities are currently determining the payment mechanism, potentially through a financial institution, to ensure transparency and will use existing residency records to contact beneficiaries.
