Dominican Republic begins reconstruction of major sports facilities
The Dominican Republic’s Ministry of Sports has launched reconstruction projects for major sports facilities in San Juan de la Maguana and San Pedro de Macorís.
In San Juan de la Maguana, work has begun on the Hermanos Suárez Municipal Baseball Stadium. The project aims to improve conditions for local athletes, clubs, and youth practicing baseball. The stadium is a significant local landmark, named after Olmedo and Fiquito Suárez, prominent figures in the region's baseball history.
In San Pedro de Macorís, Sports Minister Kelvin Cruz inaugurated a reconstruction project for the San Pedro de Macorís Sports Complex with an investment of RD$274.3 million. This initiative is part of a national program to repair and rebuild sports infrastructure. The extensive works will include the weightlifting pavilion, gymnastics pavilion, baseball complex, open courts, youth baseball stadium, softball stadium, archery pavilion, Olympic Village, and the athletics track.
