Migration authorities conduct enforcement operations in Dominican Republic and Mexico
Migration authorities in the Dominican Republic and Mexico have conducted several operations targeting undocumented individuals. In the Dominican Republic, the Dirección General de Migración (DGM) reported multiple incidents, including the arrest of three Dominican nationals for transporting four Haitian citizens in San Juan de la Maguana. In Azua, a 23-year-old Haitian man was detained for possessing a homemade firearm. Additionally, a vehicle accident involving DGM transport vehicles in San Juan de la Maguana resulted in minor injuries to five Haitian migrants. The DGM also noted that 22 passengers linked to international alerts were intercepted at airports within a single week.
In Mexico, the Instituto Nacional de Migración (INM), supported by the Secretaría de Marina, detained three Cuban nationals—two men and one woman—at a checkpoint under the Teya bridge on the Mérida-Cancún highway. The individuals were unable to provide documentation proving legal status in the country and were transferred to facilities in Mérida for administrative processing.
