Dominican Republic cuts public sector hours for 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games opening
The Dominican Republic’s Ministry of Public Administration issued Circular No. 0022855, signed by Minister Sigmund Freund, directing all public institutions in the Greater Santo Domingo area to end the workday at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, 24 July. The shortened schedule aims to improve traffic flow and reduce congestion ahead of the opening ceremony of the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games, scheduled for that evening at the renovated Félix Sanchez Olympic Stadium.
The opening ceremony is expected to draw about 45,000 attendees, including roughly 30,000 spectators, over 6,000 athletes from participating nations, and around 9,000 artists, technicians, and support staff. The Games will run through 9 August, featuring competitions across multiple venues nationwide.
