Dominican Republic deports 939 undocumented Haitians to Haiti

The Dominican Republic's Directorate General of Migration (DGM) deported 939 undocumented Haitian migrants on Monday, July 6. The majority left through the El Álvaro‑Piña border post (42%) and Dajabón (37%), with smaller numbers from Jimaní (14%) and Pedernales (5%).

In coordinated raids with the armed forces and national police, authorities also detained 1,015 foreigners across the country. Of those, 717 were apprehended by DGM agents, 213 by army personnel, 81 by police officers, and four by border‑security troops. Detainees were found in numerous locations, including Santo Domingo, La Vega, Dajabón, El Álvaro‑Piña, La Altagracia and several other provinces.

The operations targeted a wide range of neighborhoods and transport hubs, from Santo Domingo’s Herrera and Los Minas districts to tourist bus stations and city centers in Santiago and other provincial capitals. This large‑scale enforcement reflects the DGM’s ongoing effort to curb irregular migration and uphold border controls.
