Dominican Republic security forces launch road safety, migration and drug operations

A Dominican deputy presented the Road Lighting and Signage Project to RD Vial director Hostos Rizik, targeting key southern road sections such as Quita Coraza–Enriquillo and Cabral‑Polo. The Interior Minister Faride Raful met a delegation from Sábana Yegua, Azua, and agreed to install speed‑reducers, vertical and horizontal signs, intermittent traffic lights and upgraded lighting to curb local traffic accidents.

The General Directorate of Migration reported nationwide operations in all three macro‑regions on 16 June, detaining 954 undocumented foreigners and deporting 707, covering provinces from La Altagracia to Santiago. The Public Ministry sought preventive detention for Jhonathan Salas after he violently assaulted his ex‑partner in Boca Chica, causing injuries to the victim and their children.
