Dominican Republic detains over 3,600 migrants, including 50 Haitians at Dajabón

The Dominican Republic's Directorate General of Migration (DGM) carried out a nationwide crackdown on irregular migrants from June 19‑21, detaining 3,651 people and deporting 3,123 across provinces such as La Altagracia, La Romana, San Pedro de Macorís, Santiago, Puerto Plata, Montecristi, Barahona and others. The operations involved the armed forces and the National Police, with deportees processed at border points including Dajabón, Elías Piña, Jimaní and Pedernales.

In the border province of Dajabón, the Dominican Army's 10th Infantry Battalion intercepted 50 Haitian nationals without legal status in three separate raids at the El Vico, El Laurel and other checkpoints. The detainees, including adults, women and minors, were taken to the La Vigía military outpost before being handed over to the DGM for processing and eventual deportation.
