Dominican Republic and Argentina sign tourism and aviation agreements
Dominican Republic and Argentina have entered into several strategic agreements to strengthen bilateral ties in tourism, commerce, and aviation. During the International Tourism Fair of Latin America (FIT 2026) in Buenos Aires, officials from both nations signed an Air Services Agreement. This framework facilitates expanded air connectivity, allowing airlines to operate regular and charter services between any point in the Dominican Republic and any point in Argentina.
In addition to aviation, the two countries agreed to a joint sports tourism agenda. This initiative focuses on disciplines such as padel, polo, golf, and surfing to diversify tourism offerings and attract new visitor flows. Dominican Tourism Minister David Collado noted that Argentina is a key market, with expectations to reach 500,000 Argentine visitors this year.
Separately, regional tourism efforts continue in both nations. In Argentina, the province of Corrientes and the city of Bariloche are promoting local cultural identities and mountain experiences at international fairs. In the Dominican Republic, authorities are working to decentralize tourism from the Punta Cana region by promoting ecotourism and adventure sports in provinces like La Vega, Jarabacoa, and Puerto Plata.
