Dominican Republic expands elderly support through pensions and institutional agreements

President Luis Abinader has authorized the granting of 2,500 solidarity pensions to vulnerable individuals in the Dominican Republic due to old age or disability. Under Decree 499-26, beneficiaries will receive RD$6,000 monthly, totaling an annual state expenditure of approximately RD$180 million. These payments will be managed through the subsidized regime of the Dominican Social Security System by the General Directorate of Retirements and Pensions.

In a separate effort to support the elderly population, the National Council for the Aging (Conape) and AFP Popular have renewed a cooperation agreement. This partnership aims to improve the quality of life for older adults through initiatives focused on active aging, financial and digital inclusion, health, and the promotion of elderly rights.
