Dominican Republic weather: Tropical wave and heat persist

The Dominican Institute of Meteorology (Indomet) has issued weather warnings for the Dominican Republic, citing the influence of a tropical wave, Saharan dust, and upcoming tropical waves.

Currently, Saharan dust and high temperatures are affecting the region, with maximum temperatures reaching between 34°C and 36°C. While some areas experience dry conditions and gray skies, a tropical wave is triggering scattered showers, thunderstorms, and wind gusts, particularly in the southeast, central mountain range, and the Greater Santo Domingo area.

Meteorologists are also monitoring a disorganized area of showers and thunderstorms in the central subtropical Atlantic. While it has a low probability of cyclonic development in the next 48 hours, there is a 20% chance over the next seven days. Looking ahead, the arrival of tropical waves 49 and 50 is expected to increase precipitation and the potential for urban flooding later in the week.
