Dominican Republic fire department maps 200 landslide‑prone zones in capital

The fire department of the Dominican Republic completed a technical assessment that georeferenced around two hundred locations in the Central District deemed vulnerable to landslides. The most affected neighborhoods include Guillén, Villa Unión and Cantarero López, along with several peripheral sectors.

The diagnosis was prompted by the seasonal increase in rainfall. Authorities confirmed that response brigades have the necessary resources, will carry out regular soil‑saturation monitoring and have activated contingency plans to address any emerging hazards in the coming months.
