Dominican Republic focuses on export quality and business formalization
Dominican Republic officials and business leaders are highlighting new measures to strengthen the national economy through quality standards and streamlined business formalization.
Fantino Polanco emphasized that adhering to international quality standards is essential for Dominican products to access markets in the United States and Europe. He noted that the Dominican Quality System (Sidocal) provides the necessary frameworks for compliance, which is critical as exports reach approximately US$9.8 billion. Polanco described quality as the “passport” for products to reach foreign markets.
In a separate development, Julián Pérez, president of the Santo Domingo North Business Council (CESDN), praised the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and MSMEs (MICM) for a new initiative that allows businesses to be formalized in just 24 hours. This process unifies the commercial name registry, the mercantile registry, and the National Taxpayer Registry (RNC), aiming to facilitate the growth of micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises.
