Dominican Republic Launches Permanent Tourism Working Group for Bayahíbe

The Ministry of Tourism of the Dominican Republic, together with local community leaders, hotel operators and merchants, has established a permanent working group – a “mesa de trabajo permanente” – to coordinate the sustainable development of Bayahíbe. The forum will plan and monitor actions on reordering tourism zones, improving the destination’s image, enhancing security and service quality, and protecting natural, cultural and economic resources. Participants said the group aims to keep tourism growth organized, inclusive and sustainable while boosting Bayahíbe’s competitiveness in national and international markets.

Representatives highlighted Bayahíbe’s strategic importance as a gateway to Saona Island and a leading Caribbean diving destination. The working group will meet regularly, maintain a common agenda, and provide a mechanism for joint proposals, solutions and follow‑up on projects that affect the community’s quality of life and the destination’s long‑term viability.
