Dominican Republic highlights regional competitiveness at IDB dialogue

During a ministerial dialogue organized by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) in Panama City, Dominican Republic officials highlighted the nation's strategic potential to drive regional competitiveness and development.

Ministers Magín Díaz (Finance and Economy) and Yayo Sanz Lovatón (Industry, Commerce, and SMEs) emphasized the country's privileged geographic location, legal certainty, and high air and maritime connectivity. They noted that the Dominican Republic's GDP grew by 4.5% during the first half of the year, exceeding the regional average. The ministers suggested that the country and Central America are key players for benefiting from nearshoring trends due to their proximity to the United States.
