Dominican Republic launches clean‑point waste plan for 2026 Central American Games

The Dominican Republic’s Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources and the Organising Committee for the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games signed a collaboration agreement to set up clean‑point stations for selective solid‑waste collection during the July‑August 2026 event. The initiative aims to boost recycling, cut plastic use and raise environmental awareness among the public and visitors.

The games, scheduled for 24 July to 8 August 2026 in Santo Domingo, will host more than 6,000 athletes from 36 countries across about 40 sports. Officials highlighted the waste‑management plan as a way to demonstrate that large‑scale sporting events can be held responsibly and showcase the Dominican Republic’s commitment to sustainability.
