Dominican Republic launches seasonal influenza vaccination campaign

The Dominican Republic's Ministry of Public Health has launched a seasonal influenza vaccination campaign to reduce hospitalizations and mortality. Public Health Minister Víctor Atallah announced that more than 400,000 doses are available for the population.

To ensure accessibility, the campaign is being coordinated through the Directorate of Vaccine-Preventable Diseases and will utilize over 1,350 vaccination sites across the country. The initiative also includes outreach to 152 care centers and homes for the elderly, as well as Early Childhood Care Centers (CAIPI) in coordination with INAIPI.

Priority groups for the vaccination include adults aged 65 and older, pregnant women, children between six and 35 months of age, healthcare personnel, and individuals living with chronic conditions such as diabetes, asthma, or hypertension.
