Dominican Republic Keeps Green Weather Alert for Multiple Provinces

The Centro de Operaciones de Emergencias (COE) announced that a green alert remains in effect for six (later seven) provinces and the Distrito Nacional as a lingering tropical wave and a low‑pressure trough generate isolated showers and pose a risk of sudden river, stream and urban flooding. The provinces under alert include La Vega, San Cristóbal, Monseñor Nouel, Sánchez Ramírez, Santo Domingo and San Pedro de Macorís, along with the capital district. Alerts were lifted for several other provinces as conditions improve.

The Instituto Dominicano de Meteorología (INDOMET) forecasts a largely sunny and hot day across most of the country, with temperatures potentially exceeding 35 °C and a Saharan dust plume reducing humidity. Isolated showers are expected in parts of La Altagracia, El Seibo, Hato Mayor, La Romana, San Pedro de Macorís, Monte Plata, San Cristóbal, Monseñor Nouel and the Gran Santo Domingo area.

Maritime guidance advises operators of small and medium‑size vessels to remain in port along the Caribbean coast from Isla Beata (Pedernales) to La Ciénaga (Barahona) and along the Atlantic coast from Isla Saona to Cabo Engaño (La Altagracia) because of abnormal winds and dangerous waves. Elsewhere, vessels may navigate with caution near the shoreline.
