Dominican Republic migration authorities conduct mass enforcement operations

The Dominican Republic's General Directorate of Migration (DGM) conducted extensive enforcement operations across several provinces between September 16 and September 22, resulting in thousands of detentions of foreigners in irregular migratory status.

In the province of Dajabón, authorities carried out 1,336 interdictions across various border communities, including Restauración, El Carrizal, and Loma de Cabrera. These actions were part of ongoing efforts to verify legal residency and compliance with national immigration laws.

In Elías Piña, the DGM reported 1,079 detentions. On a broader scale, the southern region accounted for 3,539 detentions, representing approximately 33.3% of the 10,620 foreigners apprehended nationwide during this period. The operations involved multiple security branches, including the Dominican Army, National Police, and the Specialized Terrestrial Border Security Corps (CESFRONT).

During this seven-day window, a total of 4,980 deportations were recorded through border crossings in Dajabón, Jimaní, Elías Piña, and Pedernales, with 1,526 of those occurring specifically from Elías Piña.
