Dominican Republic Ministry of Education integrates AI into schools

The Dominican Republic Ministry of Education (MINERD) is implementing a national digital strategy to modernize the teaching system through the progressive incorporation of artificial intelligence and computational thinking. Minister Luis Miguel De Camps announced that the plan focuses on strengthening technological infrastructure, establishing ethical guidelines for digital tool usage, and providing robust teacher training.

As part of this initiative, over 23,500 teachers have been certified in digital competencies through the Soy Digital program. The ministry is also conducting a pilot program in secondary schools to enhance mathematics learning using AI-based platforms such as MagicSchool, Khanmigo, and Flexi. The strategy aims to prepare students for the global economy while ensuring that technology supports, rather than replaces, critical thinking, creativity, and analytical reasoning.
