Dominican Republic National Health Service renovates primary care centers
The National Health Service (SNS) has completed significant renovations and equipment upgrades for primary care centers in the Dominican Republic, specifically targeting the communities of Villarpando and El Pino.
In Villarpando, Azua, the local health center has undergone its first major renovation in 42 years. SNS Executive Director Julio Landrón announced that the facility will soon be equipped with X-ray machines, a clinical laboratory, and a dental unit to reduce the need for residents to travel to other communities for specialized care.
In La Vega, the El Pino Primary Care Center was renovated with an investment of approximately RD 10 million. The project included over RD 8.4 million for structural improvements and RD 1.5 million for medical equipment. The upgraded facility now features two multipurpose consultation rooms, a vaccination area, an emergency service, a pharmacy, and a dedicated unit for tuberculosis patients, serving more than 13,000 residents.
