Dominican Republic National Police ordered to pay widow RD$2.8 million
The Dominican Republic's Constitutional Court has ordered the National Police to pay RD$2,845,000 to Dulce María Lora Solís. This payment is a penalty, known as an astreinte, resulting from the institution's failure to comply with a previous ruling regarding the pension rights of her late husband, retired Brigadier General José Antonio Feliciano Castillo.
The court determined that the police failed to pay retroactive pension differentials owed to Feliciano Castillo from March 1, 2007, to September 18, 2019. The current penalty covers 569 days of delay, calculated at RD$5,000 per day between July 9, 2024, and January 29, 2026.
This is the second such penalty issued in this case. A previous liquidation in June 2025 established an earlier debt of RD$3,610,000. Combined, the total amount owed to Lora Solís due to the non-compliance reaches approximately RD$6,455,000.
