President Luis Abinader unveils housing, park and botanic garden projects across the Dominican Republic

President Luis Abinader inaugurated a series of public‑works projects aimed at expanding affordable housing, urban recreation and environmental protection. In Santo Domingo Norte he delivered 700 apartments under the Plan Familia Feliz, benefitting more than 1,300 families, many of them women and young adults. The same day he and Mayor Carolina Mejía opened the new Paseo 30 de Mayo park – a 50,000 m² urban green space that includes a professional patinódromo to host skating events at the 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games.

In the south, Minister Andrés Bautista confirmed the government’s financial backing for the Jardín Botánico de La Maguana, a planned 800,000 m² ecological park that will combine biodiversity conservation, research facilities and tourism amenities. Separate road works in Monte Plata were also launched, comprising the Hato San Pedro–Rincón Claro bypass, the rebuilt Monte Plata–Cevicos route and the roofing of the José Pantaleón Castillo school, all intended to improve connectivity and community services.
