Dominican Republic opens first authorized consular office in the Bronx
The Dominican Republic has inaugurated its first formal Annexed Consular Office in the Bronx, New York. Authorized by the United States Department of State, the office is located at 305 E. Fordham Road.
Consul General Jesús Vázquez Martínez stated that the opening is a historic milestone for the Dominican diaspora, as it provides a permanent institutional presence. Previously, the community relied on mobile consular operations to access essential services. The new facility will offer a full range of services, including passports, powers of attorney, legalizations, civil documentation, and community protection assistance.
The project was supported by President Luis Abinader and former Foreign Minister Roberto Álvarez to address the high demand for services in the Bronx and surrounding areas.
