Dominican Republic pension processes face bureaucratic delays
Retirees and workers in the Dominican Republic are facing significant bureaucratic hurdles in accessing pension funds. Many applicants encounter delays due to complex documentation requirements, such as correcting inconsistencies in identification documents, verifying old labor certifications from defunct companies, and resolving uncredited social security contributions.
In response to these administrative challenges, Juan Rosa, the Director General of Retirements and Pensions, has called upon 115 Ministry of Agriculture employees to complete their required documentation. Although these workers have already been granted pension decrees, they must finalize specific procedures to be formally included in the payroll and begin receiving payments.
Authorities have emphasized the need for institutional support and guidance to help elderly workers navigate these processes, particularly those who may struggle with the digital tools required by Pension Fund Administrators (AFPs).
