Dominican Republic prepares for 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games
Senate President Ricardo de los Santos formally received the games torch at a ceremony on the front steps of the National Congress, declaring the event a historic national commitment. He said, “With the receipt of this torch we make a national commitment; the games will be judged not by medals but by our capacity to organise.” The ceremony was attended by Congressional leaders, the president of the Chamber of Deputies, judges, and the mascot Colí.
Organiser Joselin Rodríguez Conde later expressed confidence that the Santo Domingo 2026 Games will be successfully mounted. The XXV Central American and Caribbean Games are scheduled for 24 July to 8 August 2026, will feature 40 sports across 56 disciplines, and involve about 6,000 athletes from roughly 37 countries.
