Dominican Republic presents transport infrastructure plan in Spain
During the IX Ibero-American Conference of Ministers of Transport and Infrastructure in Valladolid, Spain, the Dominican Republic’s Minister of Public Works and Communications, Eduardo Estrella, presented the nation’s strategic investments in transport infrastructure. The initiatives aim to strengthen connectivity and stimulate both trade and tourism.
Minister Estrella organized the country’s development into four key pillars:
• Maritime: Modernizing ports to expedite goods transport, strengthen commercial chains, and expand cruise tourism. • Airport: Investing in infrastructure to facilitate the international movement of passengers and cargo. • Urban Mobility: Developing systems such as monorails, cable cars, and expanded rail transport to improve city movement. • Interurban Connectivity: Building roads and bridges to link communities, production centers, and tourist destinations.
Estrella attributed these advancements to the vision and support of President Luis Abinader. He also emphasized the need for future priorities, including resilience against climate phenomena and enhanced transport security.
