Dominican Republic prosecutors charge nine in major cocaine trafficking ring

The Dominican Republic's Ministerio Público has filed formal charges against nine individuals linked to a transnational criminal organization involved in international cocaine trafficking, money laundering, and illegal weapons possession. The investigation, known as ‘Operación Leopardo’, alleges the group used villas, commercial establishments, and tourist complexes in the eastern region to store and distribute narcotics arriving from Colombia via various coastal points.

Financial analysis conducted during the investigation identified suspicious movements exceeding RD$258.8 million and US$1.6 million. These funds were allegedly channeled through bank accounts, cash deposits, and international transfers using patterns such as fractional deposits and immediate cash withdrawals. The prosecution has requested the opening of a trial and the seizure of properties, vehicles, boats, and cash linked to the group.
