Overview

Law enforcement in the Dominican Republic has conducted a series of operations targeting drug trafficking, illegal manufacturing, and migration violations. Authorities in Santiago and Puerto Plata carried out simultaneous raids resulting in 63 arrests and the seizure of over 12,700 grams of suspected cocaine and marijuana. Additionally, officials dismantled a clandestine facility in San Cristóbal used for the illegal production of alcoholic beverages.

In a separate investigation labeled ‘Operación Leopardo’, the Ministerio Público filed formal charges against nine individuals linked to a transnational criminal organization. This group is accused of international cocaine trafficking, money laundering, and illegal weapons possession. Prosecutors allege the organization utilized villas and tourist complexes in the eastern region to distribute narcotics arriving from Colombia. Financial investigations into the group identified suspicious movements exceeding RD$258.8 million and US$1.6 million.

Regarding migration, the General Directorate of Migration reported that 116 foreign nationals were denied entry in July, and over 2,600 undocumented individuals were detained during a recent two-day period, with the majority being deported to Haiti.
