Dominican Republic allocates RD$21 million for agricultural irrigation modernization

The Dominican government, through the National Irrigation Technification Executive Directorate (TNR), has distributed over RD$21 million in non-reimbursable incentives to 48 agricultural producers. These funds, provided via the Fotesir fund, aim to modernize irrigation systems, optimize water usage, and enhance climate change adaptation.

The beneficiaries, located in regions including Sabana Grande de Palenque, Nizao, Padre Las Casas, and others, will use the resources to rehabilitate and modernize their irrigation infrastructure. This initiative has helped reduce average irrigation costs per task from RD$35,000 to approximately RD$15,978.

Separately, the National Institute of Drinking Water and Sewerage (INAPA) reported investing over RD$37 billion during the current administration into water and sanitation projects. These investments have expanded hydraulic infrastructure, benefiting millions of citizens and increasing potable water production.
