Dominican Republic ramps up football squad and badminton field for 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games

The Dominican Republic’s national football program has launched a four‑week training camp for its under‑23 squad ahead of the 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games in Santo Domingo. Coordinated by Marcelo Neveleff, the sessions at the Centre of High Performance are designed to evaluate a pool of players and build a permanent development pipeline for the senior and youth teams. Neveleff said, "Agradecemos a la Federación Dominicana de Fútbol y, especialmente, a la Comisión de Selecciones Nacionales por respaldar estas iniciativas…" emphasizing the collaborative effort to strengthen Dominican football.

At the same Games, a badminton tournament will feature 60 athletes from 12 countries competing from 23 to 28 July at the Parque del Este Table‑Tennis Pavilion. The host nation will field eight competitors (four men and four women), while Cuba, El Salvador, Guatemala and Mexico will each send equal-sized delegations, and the remaining nations will contribute smaller teams.
