Santo Domingo 2026 Volunteer Program Ready for Central American and Caribbean Games

The volunteer programme for the 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games in Santo Domingo has finished its preparation phase and is moving into operation. More than 10,000 Dominican volunteers have been recruited nationwide through digital campaigns, on‑site events, institutional partnerships and a referral system. The programme now has fully defined operational, technological and logistical structures, including the BORNAN platform for volunteer management, a contact centre, manuals, protocols, risk‑management matrices and dedicated communication channels.

Leadership has shifted to Franklin Ortega, executive director of the Don Bosco Foundation, who will oversee day‑to‑day coordination, while Elizabeth Mena, who designed the programme, moves to a strategic advisory role. Organisers highlighted the creation of a national network of volunteer leaders and the completion of area‑specific assignments, training modules and equipment distribution plans. "Más allá de las cifras, lo más valioso ha sido lograr que miles de dominicanos decidieran formar parte de este proyecto," Mena said.

The Games are scheduled for 24 July–8 August 2026, featuring about 6,200 athletes from the region. The volunteer force will support venue logistics, uniform and accreditation distribution, transport coordination and on‑site assistance throughout the event.
