Dominican Republic readies for 2026 Central American-Caribbean Games

The Dominican Republic’s Hall of Fame of Sport and its Veterans Committee formally endorsed the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games slated for July 24‑August 8, 2026 in Santo Domingo. The ceremony at the Barceló Lina Hotel featured representatives of the Organising Committee, Centro Caribe Sport, the Ministry of Sports, the Dominican Olympic Committee and honored athletes such as Cuban volleyball legend Mireya Luis. Organiser José P. Monegros noted that the games will involve 37 nations, more than six thousand athletes and thousands of support staff, trainers, officials and tourists.

Meanwhile, the Dominican Gymnastics Federation (Fedogim) announced it will finalize the women's gymnastics squad for the 2026 Games after holding elimination competitions in the newly renovated gymnastics pavilion at Parque del Este. The selected team will represent the host nation at the regional multi‑sport event.
