Dominican Republic promotes economic ties and investment in Spain

During the third Dominican Week in Spain (SEDE) held in Madrid, President Luis Abinader and various officials promoted the Dominican Republic as a strategic hub for investment and logistics. Spanish business leaders, including Nuria Vilanova of the Business Council Alliance for Ibero-America (CEAPI), praised the country for its legal security and stability, noting growth in tourism, industry, and free zones.

President Abinader highlighted that Spain is the third largest foreign investor in the Dominican Republic, with accumulated investments reaching 5.328 billion dollars between 2010 and 2025. Foreign Minister Víctor Bisonó proposed an Ibero-American economic diplomacy to foster productive alliances, focusing on supply chain reliability, cybersecurity, and port security.

Other key developments included Grupo Piñero expressing interest in expanding tourism investments with a focus on sustainability, and Banco BHD emphasizing the nation's potential as an industrial platform connecting Europe and the Americas. Additionally, the National Council of Private Enterprise (Conep) signed a memorandum of understanding with the Business Confederation of Portugal (CIP) to strengthen commercial ties.
