Dominican Republic strengthens social protection and poverty reduction efforts
Dominican Republic social agencies are coordinating efforts to strengthen territorial protection policies and update socioeconomic data. The social development agency Supérate met with provincial governors to align institutional goals with local needs, focusing on service delivery, training, and poverty reduction. Notably, the country has reached a malnutrition prevalence rate below 2.5%, meeting FAO standards to be considered off the hunger map.
In Bahoruco, the Single Beneficiary System (Siuben) is launching an operation under the Inspire 2026 project to evaluate approximately 35,000 households. This initiative aims to update the Universal Social Registry of Households (RSUH) through direct community visits to improve the planning of social policies.
Additionally, efforts are being made to expand early childhood services in Bahoruco. Senator Guillermo Lama and the National Institute for Comprehensive Early Childhood Care (Inaipi) are discussing the identification of new locations for care centers to facilitate access for local families and strengthen existing facilities.
