Dominican Republic to host National STEM Fair

Deputy Vicente Sánchez Henríquez has announced the National STEM Fair, scheduled for Monday, November 2, at the Aloft by Marriott hotel in Santo Domingo. The event focuses on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics to encourage Dominican youth to pursue technical careers.

The fair is a direct result of Law 89-25, an initiative by Sánchez that was promulgated by President Luis Abinader on October 3, 2025. This law establishes November 8 as the National STEM Day and promotes public-private partnerships to strengthen scientific and technological innovation in the country.

According to data presented by the deputy, there is a significant gap in the labor market: 74% of companies demand young professionals trained in technological fields, yet only 14% of youth express interest in studying these areas. The event aims to bridge this gap through international speakers, scholarships, certifications, and direct connections with companies for job opportunities.
